Dunja Kovacevic
Hi! My name is Dunja. I’m a relational therapist (MFT), with a background in cultural studies, community work, and a creative streak that runs across everything I do.
Remaining open to ourselves and other people takes courage in a world that can feel heavy. I’m excited to work with people ready to explore their identities (social, cultural, gender and sexual, racial, political and otherwise), and people trying to understand, strengthen, and sustain their relationships and communities. I believe we can do this difficult work or reconnection and repair while still calling on playfulness and creative expression.
I engage people through the relationships and systems that shape us, the cultures and communities that we emerge from, and get curious about how these influence how we grow and the meaning we make about our lives. I think a lot about power as a real force that impacts our lives, that we wield and respond to!
As a child immigrant with refugee experience, I’m drawn to working through legacies of immigration or migration and displacement, understanding our complex inheritances and survivance stories. As a queer and neurodivergent person, I’m sensitive to how it feels to hold rich and complex identities, cultures and lived experiences.
The common thread that runs through my work is a deep curiosity and reverence for connection. My approach is influenced by trauma studies, narrative therapy, anti-oppression and social justice values, and parts work.
The future I’m working towards has space for all of us. If there’s any way I can make you more comfortable in session, I’d like to know. There’s room for you here.
